If you’re feeling stressed at the idea of making dinner for the family, consider doing much of the prep work the evening before cooking. Cut up veggies, marinate your meat or make a sauce the night before. You will be more relaxed and better prepared to cook the following day.

You can dry out your own tomatoes. You can use Roma tomatoes cut lengthwise, or ripe tomatoes sliced about a half inch thick. Place cut side up on a clean cooling rack and salt lightly. Put the rack on a baking sheet, and slow-bake in an oven that is set to 190 degrees for about 10 hours. You can store your dried tomatoes in your freezer. Also, you can put those dried tomatoes straight into a jar or can filled with fresh herbs and olive oil. Place in the refrigerator and consume within two weeks.

Organization is key to cooking efficiently and not letting anything burn. You can be more productive, if your cooking station is well organized. Get organized to cut back on unnecessary food waste.

Always make certain to measure any cooking oil you use. To have a lower amount of fat added to your cooking, make sure you measure your cooking oil carefully instead of just pouring right from the bottle to the pan. That way there are no surprises about exactly how much oil is going into your body.

Use paper towels to blot the moisture from the surface of ground meat before cooking. Before cooking ground meat it is always important to blot away moisture. Add some interest to a basic ear of corn or dinner roll by using flavored butter. Let your butter come to room temperature, or soften it in the microwave. Try incorporating some herbs and spices to spice up the flavor of the corn. Give barbecue sauce a try, or mix in peppers, honey or lemon juice.

Potentially great meals can be ruined by complicating the recipe or method of cooking. Many fabulous meals are the result of simple methods and ingredients. If you follow the ideas here, you will have a greater understanding of not only cooking, but baking and serving in general.

Prep a fruit for juicing by microwaving it first. Heat your fruits in the microwave for just ten seconds or so. After the fruit is done microwaving, roll it on the counter before you cut it.
